In 1995, the TechnologieZentrumDortmund (TZDO) celebrates its tenth anniversary.
Dortmund was characterised by structural change in the 1990s. For a decade, the TZDO has been making an important contribution to this by developing and expanding technological expertise, providing customised infrastructure and providing targeted support for start-ups and companies.
In 1985, the year the TZDO opened, Klaus Günzel, then Managing Director of the Dortmund Chamber of Industry and Commerce, declared: "The creation of at least 1,000 new jobs is expected in the medium term as a direct result of the construction of the technology centre."
This forecast was clearly exceeded ten years later: In the mid-1990s, around 5,000 people were earning their living in the TZDO and the surrounding Dortmund Technology Park.
