{"id":4796,"date":"2026-03-04T10:00:58","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T09:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tzdo.de\/?p=4796"},"modified":"2026-03-03T16:23:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T15:23:07","slug":"innovations-for-the-future-of-medicine-spotlight-on-1st-in-class-drug-discovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tzdo.de\/en\/innovations-for-the-future-of-medicine-spotlight-on-1st-in-class-drug-discovery\/","title":{"rendered":"Innovations for the Future of Medicine - Spotlight on 1st-in-Class Drug Discovery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Together with the <a href=\"https:\/\/khanu.de\/\">KHAN<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lead-discovery.de\/de\/\">Lead Discovery Centre (LDC)<\/a> on 25 February 2026 at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tzdo.de\/en\/bio-medizin-zentrum-dortmund\/\">Biomedicine Centre Dortmund (BMZ)<\/a> experience a strong partnering format: a day full of scientific excellence, open discussions and with a clear focus on translation - in other words, on how concrete approaches and sustainable collaborations emerge from research.<\/p>\n<p>The kick-off was made by <strong>Dr Kirsten Bender<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wirtschaft.nrw\/ministry-nrw\">MWIKE<\/a>). Afterwards there was <strong>Irene Papanicolau<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eif.org\/\">European Investment Fund<\/a>) insights into European investment prospects for the life sciences, before <strong>Bert M. Klebl<\/strong> the KHAN\/LDC ecosystem. Further exciting contributions on scientific findings, projects, entrepreneurial approaches and spin-offs followed throughout the day. From the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bioindustry.de\/\">BioIndustry network<\/a> was, among other things, a board member of the network and head of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tzdo.de\/en\/bio-medizin-zentrum-dortmund\/\">BMZ <\/a><strong>Dr Joanna Stachnik<\/strong> on site and accompanied the exchange.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Dortmund footprint was particularly strong:<\/strong> Dortmund has long been an established centre for active ingredient research, and this is exactly what was noticeable here.
