In keeping with the anniversary, the international jury of the Technopolicy Network honoured TZDO with the 1st prize at the "Best Practice in Scienced Based Incubation 2009" awards.

In the middle of farmland, in the immediate vicinity of Dortmund University, the official starting signal for the TZDO was given on 6 May 1985.

The office and hall space of around 4,800 m² at Emil-Figge-Strasse 76 was quickly fully occupied by 25 companies.

Today, with around 100,000 m² of space and over 200 companies in six competence centres at four locations in Dortmund, the TZDO is a powerful driving force in the rapid pace of technological innovation.
