STEAG microParts GmbH was founded in 1990 as a joint venture between Hoesch AG, Hüls AG, Rheinmetall GmbH, STEAG AG and VEW AG.
In 2004, the Dortmund site becomes a legally independent company of Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma GmbH & Co. KG and trades under the name "Boehringer Ingelheim microParts GmbH".
In 2010, the Module 2 atomiser factory with a production capacity of 20 million RESPIMAT® is put into operation.
Series production of the reusable RESPIMAT® in the site's latest expansion stage will begin in 2018. This device is even more environmentally friendly and can be used with up to six active ingredient cartridges.
Today, around 640 employees at the Dortmund site produce up to 45 million inhalation devices in both versions for the global market every year.
