Just three years earlier, the first construction phase of the BMZ was opened at the Emil-Figge-Strasse 76a site - also on the Dortmund Science and Technology Campus.
Located directly next to the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology, BMZ II offers almost 10,000 m² of expansion space for the promising fields of biomedicine and proteomics.
The state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the city of Dortmund have invested almost 53 million euros so that start-ups and young biotechnology companies can use laboratories with high-quality technological equipment and state-of-the-art devices.
Today, around 20 companies with over 500 employees find the perfect infrastructure for implementing their ideas in the competence centre of the TechnologieZentrumDortmund for the fields of biomedicine, biotechnology, bioinformatics, medical technology, proteomics and drug research.
