The three-storey laboratory building with around 2,600 m² of floor space was completed in container construction within just four months of the contract being awarded.

By focussing on the interface between biotechnology and microsystems technology in combination with bioinformatics and medical informatics, the BMZ is occupying a rapidly growing application market.

In 2002, the centre will form the nucleus of a biotechnological field of competence in the Ruhr region with new, sustainable jobs.

Today, the BMZ has a second location on the Dortmund Science and Technology Campus at Otto-Hahn-Straße 15.

Around 20 companies with over 500 employees find the perfect infrastructure for realising their ideas at the BMZ.

The BMZ is the competence centre of the TechnologieZentrumDortmund for the fields of biomedicine, biotechnology, bioinformatics, medical technology, proteomics and drug research.

It offers companies and start-ups modern office space and high-quality biotechnology laboratory space for S1/S2 use.
