"As the TechnologyCentreDortmund, we want to send a visible signal for European values and European cohesion on Europe Day and the 75th anniversary of the European Union," explains TZDO Managing Director Dirk Stürmer.
As Europe Day, 9 May commemorates the founding and values of the European Union. On this day 75 years ago, the Schuman Declaration laid the foundations for European unification after the Second World War.
The City of Dortmund's International Relations team therefore called on people to light up buildings and structures in Dortmund in blue to send out a signal in favour of Europe.
In addition to the TZDO, the Technical University of Dortmund, the Dortmund Concert Hall, the German Football Museum, the pylon at the Reinoldikirche light rail station and the Old Harbour Office were also lit up in blue. The European flag could also be seen in the flying pictures of the Dortmunder U.
