The TechnologyCentreDortmund (TZDO) is one of the hotspots for Artificial Intelligence (AI). Many innovative AI and IT start-ups are working here on solutions that make processes faster, more efficient, and data-driven. At the same time, we are experiencing more and more: Artificial intelligence no longer only affects tech companies; it is increasingly becoming relevant for small and medium-sized businesses as well, across all sectors.

That's precisely why the Dortmund AI Survey 2026 is the Dortmund Economic Development Agency so important: it should provide a comprehensive overview for the first time of how AI is actually being used in Dortmund companies, what potential is seen, and where there are still hurdles, support needs, or unanswered questions (e.g. training, data protection, implementation in everyday life).

The results help to specifically expand AI-related offerings, networks, and knowledge transfer in Dortmund and to further develop the location.
