44 years of tradition, two days Messe Dortmund and a question that is currently burning: How do we make supply chains safer, more resilient and fit for the future?
That is precisely what was discussed on 8 and 9 September at the Future Logistics Congress – 44th Dortmund Talks. Organised by Fraunhofer IML and Digital Hub Logistics, the congress was themed „Secure logistics for uncertain times“ and in doing so also brought the industry's future markets into focus: from defence and aerospace to decarbonisation and electrification, as well as banking, biotechnology and the construction sector.
One of the highlights of the event was the ninth presentation of the Digital Logistics Award. Seven finalists pitched in front of numerous decision-makers from the logistics industry.
First place was taken by cargovibe from Philipp Bracht. The start-up is developing a digital co-driver for everyday logistics operations that supports lorry drivers on the road with finding parking spaces, making reservations, route planning and communication.
In second place followed SLAPStack from Jakob Pfrommer and Anna Dieckhöfer. The Dortmund start-up makes warehouse processes visible: with real-time tracking of fork-lift trucks and load carriers, automatic 3D measurement, a digital twin and AI-supported optimisation for existing warehouse structures. The podium was completed by Hadros with a solution in the field of order-picking robotics.
The fact that as many as two podium places come from Dortmund is no coincidence.
In Dortmund, the future of logistics is not only being researched, but also put into practical application. Together with Fraunhofer IML, LAMARR, Fraunhofer ISST, Digital Hub Logistics, LOG-IT Club and many other stakeholders at the location, we ensure that research is put into practice. Just like with cargovibe and SLAPStack. Both start-ups are part of the regional innovation ecosystem and members of the innoclub in the TZDO is native to.
