TZDO Business Breakfast 2026 – Driving Data – How data is transforming the (automotive) industry

Data Spaces: What are the benefits of looking beyond company boundaries?

That is precisely what we discussed on 21 September as part of the #diwodo at the TZDO Business Breakfast „Driving Data – How data is changing the (automotive) industry“ discussed.

Actually, we would have liked to invite you to our main building, but the foyer there is currently being converted into a modern event and office space. That is why this time we went to Joanna Stachnik ins Biomedicine Centre Dortmund (BMZ).

Panel discussion at the event

Chaired by Dirk Stürmer, they discussed Sebastian Kleff (sovity), Michael Rembrink (AutoForm Engineering Deutschland), Dr Tobias Guggenberger (Fraunhofer ISST and Thorsten Hülsmann (International Data Spaces e. V.), which is what data spaces mean in concrete terms for businesses: a data network across company boundaries that creates a shared standard.

Instead of centralising data, it remains decentralised at the companies themselves, but is made interchangeable through uniform standards. Data silos are thus broken down without anyone losing control of their own data.

Data spaces are not just a nice-to-have, though. They form the foundation for industrial AI and the digital product passport, which will become compulsory for a growing number of product groups in the coming years. And even though today's focus was the automotive industry, the principle is relevant across all sectors, from logistics to medical technology.

Meeting with bread rolls and croissants

Ultimately, one clear prospect remained: Software Defined Vehicle and Industrial AI are considered two of the most important answers to the current challenges facing the German automotive industry, and both only work with a reliable and high-quality data infrastructure in the background.

Thank you to all the guests for the open discussion and see you at the next TZDO Breakfast event!
